What do you enjoy about working at DYRSL?
The people! In my position, I get to be part of an amazing department full of people working on a variety of different events, as well has working with the rest of the RSL staff. You never get lonely on shift.
What is something exciting happening in your life right now?
I am continuing my university studies in criminology and psychology, which I plan to work in the field of forensic science and eventually work as a forensic psychologist.
Describe ‘a day in the life’ working at DYRSL in your current position.
In events, every day is different, which is why the job is always exciting! Usually, I will come in and talk to the client about their event, ensuring that they have everything they need. Then brief the staff on the event, including service and bar times and any small details they need to be aware of. During the event, I will talk to both the DYRSL staff and the client, ensuring everyone is happy and everything is running smoothly. After the event, we clean up and get ready for the next function!
What is a fond/funny/stand-out memory of your time here.
I have so many that it is hard to choose. Probably when we had the band Lime Cordale play a couple of nights here. I had been listening to their music for years, so it was such a privilege being able to work their concert and see them live!
How would your friends describe you?
Loud, loyal and dependable.
Favourite book / movie?
My all-time favourite movie is Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I have played violin since I was four and it presented me with opportunities to travel to parts of the world, like China.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Running, it allows me to clear my head and push myself. I also enjoy anything to do with music whether its playing or listening.
If you were to give your younger self some advice, what would it be?
Be patient, it will be okay, and you will get there.
Who is your hero?
My family! I have the most amazing parents who are incredibly supportive and a twin sister who I absolutely adore.
Do you collect anything?
I have a LEGO Formula One collection, for which I have almost collected the whole series. It sits front and centre in my room!
