DYRSL has been the vibrant entertainment hub at the heart of our Northern Beaches community for more than 85 years.
While we embrace tradition, we’re also proud to set a new standard – we continuously progress, and we strive to do better tomorrow than we did today.
In July 2025, our Development Application to further improve the food, beverage and gaming offering for the community and for our current and future members, guests, and staff of DYRSL was approved.
Kicking off in early 2026, the first phase of the refurbishment will see the arrival of a brand-new café, Botanica. Once completed, we will then start works to move our Pittwater Road entrance to allow for easy access to our Bistro, enhance and increase the size of our popular Tastes of Asia restaurant and refurbish our current gaming room.

The countdown is on!
- Feature lighting has been installed
- Flooring has been completed
- Installation of the entry stairs has commenced
- Planters have been filled with soil and planting is now underway
- Muralist has commenced painting
July 2026
Light and bright!
- High ceiling works are close to completion
- Painting has commenced
- Bar fit out and joinery installation has commenced
- Banquette seating work has commenced
June 2026
Botanica’s Skylight is Complete.
- All skylight glazing panels have been craned into place
- Bar framework has commenced and the bar floor has been prepped and waterproofed
- Plasterboard sheeting and soundproofing panel installation is underway
- High-level planters have been installed
- Columns have been lined in preparation for tiling
May 2026
Peek-a-boo!
- Sneak peek window installed in the hoarding
- Temporary roof installed and the site is now watertight
- Services installation continued
- Air-conditioning ductwork installation continued
- Botanica kitchen wall with pass-through built
- Botanica bar framework installed
April 2026
Botanica’s roof is taking shape.
- Structural steel installation has been completed
- Roof sheeting and gutter installation has commenced
- Air conditioning ductwork installation has commenced
March 2026
Demolition is complete!
- Waterproofing was completed to prepare for the roof removal
- The Gallery roof has been removed in preparation for the new Botanica roof
- The site has been cleared ready for the next stage
- Initial Botanica kitchen equipment has been installed
January and February 2026
Work is underway!
Site preparations began on Thursday 8 January and demolition is now in full swing.
- Site sheds installed on Hawkesbury Ave
- Demolition of carpet, ceilings and stairs of The Gallery
- Demolition of external garden bed to make way for the new alfresco area of Botanica
- Battery House kitchen exhaust relocated in order to accommodate Botanica’s new roof
- Walls erected ready to be waterproofed in preparation for the roof removal in the coming weeks, ensuring the site remains watertight
