As we celebrate Neil’s 25-year journey, let’s take a moment to reminisce about some memorable moments from his time with us.

What do you enjoy about working at DYRSL?

Every day brings its unique challenges, especially when resolving technical issues – it’s essential to always have Plans B and C ready.

Describe ‘a day in the life’ working at DYRSL in your current position.

In my role as Events Houseman, my days are filled with lots of movement and rearrangement of function funiture to ensure we are ready for our guests.

What do you love doing the most in your work?

What I love most about my job is helping out with the technical sound and lighting for our live shows and entertainment.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, it’d have to be Thailand. It’s an affordable destination with stunning landscapes, friendly people, and incredible weather.

How would your friends describe you?

My friends would probably describe me as carefree and having a touch of dark humour.

Favourite book / movie?

The movie 300 – a fictionalised retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae in the Greco-Persian Wars.

Favourite Drink?

Fireball whiskey.

Tell us something we don’t know about you…

I’m legally blind – so this is why you often see me wearing my sunglasses when I am at work.

What is your go-to meal here?

Definitely the Satay chicken from Tastes Of Asia!

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work, one of my favourite hobbies is playing the pool. I am a regular at Battery House‘s Monday night pool comp.

What are some of your personal goals this year?

My goal this year is to be more open and accepting.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grow up?

I dreamt of becoming a professional basketball player.

Who is your hero?

My Dad.
