Scholarship Program

Dee Why RSL will award 10 local HSC students with $2,000 each in scholarships.

Online application period for the 2020 Scholarship Program is Monday 23 September – Monday 11 November 2019.

The 2020 School Scholarship Program  is open to local students going into year 12 for the 2020 year of study.

In addition to students who exhibit academic excellence, these scholarships also provide opportunities to students who demonstrate that they have the drive and determination to achieve academically despite financial constraints, along with a passion/proven contribution to community and involvement in extracurricular activities. Students can opt to be assessed on their academic performance and/or financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must be:

  • 19 years or under
  • In year 12 for the year of 2020 and studying towards the Higher School Certificate
  • Applicant (student), parents, guardians and/or grandparents are a current member of Dee Why RSL
  • If successful, must be willing to attend the Scholarship event on Tuesday 3 December 2019

Assessment Criteria

Students are assessed on:

  • Academic performance and/or financial need (selection will remain confidential)
  • Contribution to school and community
  • Display an interest in/participate in extracurricular activities

Note: The Club’s Board Panel will assess all applications. Their decisions will be final.

Timeline

  • Online application period Monday 23 September – Monday 11 November 2019
  • Notifications to successful applicants week commencing 18 November 2019
  • Scholarship Event: Tuesday 3 December 2019 at Dee Why RSL Club 6.30pm – 8.00pm

Please have the following documents ready prior to commencing your application:

  • Report by Year Advisor: The Year Advisor is required to give a brief report on the student’s academic performance, attitude to study and contribution to the school/community, as well as how they believe the student would benefit from the scholarship funding.
  • Student’s Personal Statement: This statement must not exceed one typed page and should provide information to support other evidence in your application. Please include relevant information about your academic ability and performance, financial circumstances (if relevant to your application), community involvement and any other pertinent additional information.
  • Semester Two Year 11 School Report
  • Any other relevant awards/information
