Congratulations on 45 Years – Omer Reskov
If you’ve visited the Club within the last 45 years, chances are you’ve encountered Omer. A unique and friendly character, Omer has dedicated almost half a century to lighting up the Gaming Room Bar, bringing smiles and beverages to patrons.
As Omer celebrates his 45 years of employment, we took some time to take a look at his journey.
What was your role when you first started at the Club 45 years ago?
When I first entered the Club I started as a kitchen hand. I then went on to work as a cook and server for The Bistro, then eventually moved to my current role as a bartender in the
How have you seen the Club change over this time?
Everything has changed! The Club has grown so much since I first started, from staff to outlets, community groups to members, everything has increased in numbers. It was a very small Club all those years ago and it has been great to watch it develop.
What is one of your favourite memories since you started working at Dee Why RSL?
I have had so many great experiences while working here it is hard to boil it down to just one. It is always nice to reflect on all of the relationships I have built over the years working
here, and I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the customers.
You have a lot of experience behind the bar; what’s your go-to beer?
That’s a tough one! I can’t go past a good Victoria Bitter.
On the weekends, where would we find you?
I work most weekends but if I did have the day off you would find me at Warriewood Beach, watching the sunrise and having a morning coffee.
You’ve been a dedicated team member for 45 years now! Is there anything in particular that has made you stay at Dee Why RSL for all these years?
I have loved building relationships with people at the Club. The staff, customers, and company culture of Dee Why RSL has made the years go by so quickly!
What excites you most about the future of Dee Why RSL?
All aspects of the redevelopment are exciting. I can’t wait for the Club to become an even bigger part of the community and for more people to visit us.
If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Funny, energetic and most importantly, happy!
What would you say to anyone thinking about applying for a position at Dee Why RSL.
Do it! It’s a great Club with great staff culture.
What’s something we don’t know about you?
A lot of people don’t know that I love to garden. Until recently I was a part-time gardener for 23 years.
What does the future for Omer look like?
Spending quality time with family and friends. I would love to go on a holiday somewhere, maybe even visit Thailand!
If you see Omer’s smiling face in the Club when you’re next here, drop by and say hi.
