20 Apr We donate $1.65 million to the local community
Dee Why RSL Club launched the 2017/2018 Community Support Program at a recent cocktail event, which was held in the Club’s Showroom. 115 local benefiting organisations were invited, along with The Hon. Jason Falinski, Member for Mackellar; Michael Regan, former Mayor and Advisory Committee member for Northern Beaches Council and ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball, as well as the RSL Board and executive team.
Club President Graeme Liddell said “Our Club is proud of our continuing support of well over 100 local organisations. It is a truly mutual and sustainable community support program built on those values on which the Club was founded.”
“Because of the support of our members and community groups who utilise the clubs facilities and services, in the coming year the program is able to support these groups with $1.65 million in cash and in-kind support. After all – they’re the lifeblood of our northern beaches region,” said Executive Manager of Community, Sheila Malone.
“From special needs, domestic violence support, disabilities, mental health, veterans, surf rescue – right through to sporting groups, the arts and education – these groups work tirelessly. They give countess hours of their time; many as volunteers, and that’s on top of full-time jobs and busy families. Our hats go off to them.” added Sheila.
The Club will continue to direct significant funding towards a major partnership with the Veteran’s Centre – Sydney Northern Beaches, a professional organisation dedicated to providing holistic support for veterans, their partners, and families. The Centre is located on level 4 of the Club.
