30 Apr Be Centre Enables Traumatised Children
Located in Warriewood, Be Centre is a local mental health charity providing play therapy for children aged 3-12 years. They are dedicated to early intervention,
stopping cycles of harm and helping children heal from difficulties and trauma, so they can thrive.
Dee Why RSL is very committed to Be Centre and the incredibly important work they do with children.
Through your support, your Club has provided over $53,000 to Be Centre since 2013, which enables disadvantaged and at-risk children to have access to vital Play Therapy, to help them heal and move on with their lives.
Gailene Keen, Be Centre’s Fundraising and Development Manager said; “Be Centre is so appreciative of Dee Why RSL’s ongoing support which ensures that local children who have been impacted by trauma or other serious life challenges have access to age-appropriate mental health support through our one to one Play Therapy Program.”
“This is vital so that they can heal, move forward with their lives and create the best possible future for themselves, their families and the community.”
Since opening its doors in 2008, by June they will have conducted over 3,000 individual Play Therapy sessions (over 200 individual children) to local northern beaches children.
“The need within the community is acute and growing each day. As our reputation grows, so do our referrals; sadly over the last few months our waitlist has risen back to approximately 100 children.”
“We continue to focus in increasing our profile within the community so that we can raise funds, in order to help these kids and fulfil our vision of scaling our services beyond our local community to a wider metropolitan offering.
Dee Why RSL have been instrumental over the last few years in helping us to continue to grow so that we can meet the great need within the northern beaches community and see more children than ever before. Thank you.”
