Congratulations on 45 years. Well done Omer Reskov.

1 December 1975, friendly and energetic Omer Reskov began his journey here at DYRSL. If you’ve visited us since then, chances are you’ve encountered Omer. A unique and kind character, Omer has dedicated almost half a century to lighting up the Gaming Room, serving smiles and beverages to patrons and staff alike.

As Omer celebrates his 45 years of employment, we took some time to take a look at his DYRSL journey.

Read on to find out more.

What was your role when you first started at DYRSL 45 years ago?
When I first entered the RSL I started as a kitchen hand. I then went on to work as a cook and server for The Bistro, then eventually moved to my current role as a bartender in the
Gaming Room.

How have you seen the RSL change over this time?
Everything has changed! The RSL has grown so much since I first started, from staff to outlets, community groups to members, everything has increased in numbers.

It was a very small RSL all those years ago and it has been great to watch it develop.

What is one of your favourite memories since you started working at DYRSL?
I have had so many great experiences while working here it is hard to boil it down to just one.

It is always nice to reflect on all of the relationships I have built over the years working here, and I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the customers and staff.

You have a lot of experience behind the bar; what’s your go-to beer?
That’s a tough one! I can’t go past a good – and cold – Victoria Bitter.

On the weekends, where would we find you?
I work most weekends but if I did have the day off you would find me watching the sunrise at Warriewood Beach with a morning coffee.

You’ve been a dedicated team member for 45 years now! Are there any defining factors that have encouraged you to stay?
I really have loved building relationships with people. The staff,
customers, and company culture of DYRSL has made the years go by so quickly!

What excites you most about the future of DYRSL?
All aspects of the redevelopment are exciting.
I can’t wait for the us to become an even bigger part of the community and for more people to visit us.

If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Funny, energetic and most importantly, happy!

What would you say to anyone thinking about applying for a position at DYRSL.
Do it! It’s a great place with great staff culture.

What’s something we don’t know about you?
A lot of people don’t know that I love to garden. Until recently I was a part-time gardener for 23 years.

What does the future for Omer look like?
Spending quality time with family and friends.

I would love to go on a holiday somewhere, maybe even visit Thailand!

Congratulations on 45 years of service Omer!
