What do you enjoy about working at the RSL?

The people I work with make it such an enjoyable workplace, and I have built lifelong friendships at DYRSL. I also enjoy seeing and chatting with our regular customers that have come over my years working here, it has such a deep sense of community that I love being a part of.

What is something exciting happening in your life right now?

I’m looking forward to my upcoming holiday in Croatia, where I plan to unwind and enjoy the summer.

Describe ‘a day in the life’ working at DYRSL in your current position.

I typically work double shifts on Mondays, Friday nights, and Saturday lunches at Bistro, which suits me perfectly. I spend most of my time behind the register, making sure customers are happy and orders are flowing through. During the last 30 minutes of my shift, I always help the floor staff to clear and clean tables and ensure everything is ready for the dinner service.

What is a fond/funny/stand-out memory of your time here.

I will never forget my first day that I worked on the bistro floor here at DYRSL. I remember being incredibly nervous as English is my second language and it was not the best at the time, but the team made me feel very comfortable and gave me the confidence to continue!

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

I would love to travel to Hawaii. It looks like it has the perfect mix of relaxation and adventuring.

What is the weirdest fact you know?

Many people may not know that an Octopus has three hearts!

How would your friends describe you?

My friends would describe me as kind, generous, supportive, and trusting.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding – I enjoyed the trilogy due to its feel-good nature and always find myself laughing hysterically every time I watch it. Being European myself I can relate the funny scenarios that occur throughout the films.

I love cocktails, and my favourite is the Pina Colada.

Tell us something we don’t know about you…

Since moving to Australia 30 years ago, DYRSL has been my one and only job, and it will definitely be my last. This shows how much I enjoy working here.

What is your go-to meal here?

I enjoy Asian cuisine and I would have to say my go to meal here is the XO Chilli Prawns from Tastes of Asia.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy going for walks near the beach in the morning to start the day. I also enjoy puzzles for a challenge and the satisfying feeling once they’re complete, as well as gardening and growing my own vegetables.

What are some of your personal goals this year?

I have set a couple goals which are 10,000 steps a day and to go swimming more often!

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grow up?

When I was growing up, I wanted to be a judge.

If you were to give your younger self some advice, what would it be?

Be Confident: Believe in yourself and your abilities.

What do you love doing the most in your work?

I love greeting and catching up with our customers, as there is always a new story to hear.
