Cheers to Celebrating 15 Years Bill.

If you’ve visited DYRSL over the last 15 years, chances are you have tasted Bill’s delicious cooking.

Always ensuring Bistro’s food is prepped perfectly, as Bill celebrates his 15 year anniversary with us, we thought it fitting to catch up with him over a handful of questions.

Read on to find out a little more about Bill and his time with us.

What in particular do you enjoy about working at DYRSL?

I love working with some fresh products every morning ensuring only the best quality of food for our customers. I also love my short commute to work, I live close by and it’s so quick to get to work!

Describe ‘a day in the life’ working at DYRSL in your current position.

I am the first person in the kitchen most mornings. I come in and sanitise everything then get to work. I weigh or measure ingredients and prepare fresh condiments. I then store the food, as well as cook all the vegetables to be served at the Bistro. Once I’ve check everything is cooked perfectly, I will then place the food on trays for immediate service.

How has DYRSL changed over the past five years?

DYRSL has grown so much over the years! It has become a lot bigger (including the kitchens). It’s been great watching it change over time.

What is a fond/funny/stand-out memory of your time here?

I can’t think of a certain memory, but overall my time here has been great. I’ve enjoyed every moment and wouldn’t change it!

What is something exciting happening in your life right now?

I can’t believe I have been working at DYRSL for fifteen years!

What do you love doing the most in your work?

I love cooking and making people smile, DYRSL is the perfect place to cook delicious food and help others.

How would your friends describe you?

My friends would describe me as friendly and always cooking something!

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

Self healing.

What is your favourite book/movie?

My favourite movie is Show Boat.

What is your favourite drink?

I drink boiled water everyday, it has some really great health benefits and it is an easy way to improve your health.

What is your go-to meal here?

I like simple things, and a delicious plate of roasted vegetables from Bistro is my go-to meal.

Hobbies outside of work?

I love to go sightseeing, especially around here on the beaches, with so many beautiful lookouts and views.

If you were to give your younger self some advice what would it be?

I would tell my younger self to keep health my number one priority. Physical health is important, as is mental health.
