Cheers to Celebrating 10 Years Alex.

Committed and diligent, Alex, our Gaming Operations Manager and a true aficionado of culinary delights (particularly known for his passion for wontons and meat pies) has been a familiar and friendly face at DYRSL for the past decade. If you’ve been to our establishment during this time, you’ve likely been greeted by Alex’s warm smile.

In honour of his remarkable 10-year journey with us, we decided to sit down with Alex and ask him a few questions. Continue reading to get to know Alex better and learn about his experiences during his time here.

What do you enjoy about working at DYRSL?

Apart from my colleagues, I really enjoy the continually changing environment. Meeting new people, creating and implementing fun and exciting promotions, working with new systems and companies – no day is ever the same.

Do you have a fond/funny/stand-out memory of your time so far?

There are quite a few! However, being “forced” to get “Hypnotized” on stage in front of 350 of our members and staff is something that I wish I didn’t remember.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

South Korea – I have heard amazing things about the food and I am pretty keen to test it out for myself.

What is the weirdest fact you know?

Rubber bands last longer when they are refrigerated.

What has your journey been at DYRSL?

I started working as a Gaming Attendant before becoming one of our Gaming Supervisors. I was promoted to the role of Relief Manager, working as a Duty Manager before moving into the Marketing department as the Promotions and Loyalty Manager, where I was responsible for our Reception and Promotions teams. I had the opportunity to move back into the Gaming department as the Gaming Operations Manager and have been in this role for almost five years now.

How would your friends describe you?

Jolly, dedicated, hard-working, and funny.

Favourite tv show(s)?

Family Guy.

Favourite Drink?

Coke – with and without Jack Daniels.

If you could swap legs with any other animal, what animal would you swap legs with?

Kangaroo – so I could jump really really high.

What is your go-to meal at DYRSL?

I can’t go past a Wonton Noodle Soup with extra chilli from Tastes of Asia.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pies. Was going to say meat pie, but by saying Pies, I still have options.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who don’t stand to the left on an escalator… why?

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I honestly don’t remember.

If you were to give your younger self some advice, what would it be?

Remember what you want to be when you are older, and put goals in place to achieve that dream.

If you had to delete all but 3 apps from your phone, which ones would you keep?

Banking, Youtube and Uber Eats.
